The 4-6-2 steam locomotive No. 60163, bearing the nameplate TORNADO is the result of an 18 year, over 3 million project initiated and overseen by The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, their aim being, to create the 50th of this otherwise very short-lived Peppercorn designed version of the Gresley A1 Pacific Class steam locomotive. The project is to a very great extent funded by public donation, such is the continuing allure of the steam engine.

The Darstaed model of TORNADO is the culmination of over 3 years of determination on the part of company CEO Andries Grabowsky to bring a 3 rail, coarse scale model of this landmark locomotive into being.
